I’m Louise, a 29-year-old pescatarian living in Walthamstow, London. I’m a big foodie; I love cooking hearty, filling healthy food and baking sweet treats when I can.
What is a pescatarian?
A pescatarian eats fish and seafood, as well as anything in a traditional vegetarian diet, including eggs and dairy. But no meat.
My relationship with food
As I sat around the family dinner table one Sunday afternoon in 2004, staring at my lamb roast dinner, a feeling of impending guilt came over me. I couldn’t eat that poor baby sheep.
I became a vegetarian at the age of 17 and enjoyed a strict vegetarian diet through university. At the age of 21, I wanted to vary my diet, especially when eating out, so I started eating fish occasionally.
The vast majority of my home cooking is vegetarian, as I love vegetables and find leading a meat-free diet to be a healthy, ethical, interesting and cost-effective way of living.
